Nazaré sightseeing: plan for the fort, cliffs and cable car
The headland above Praia do Norte holds the lookout most people come for: the clifftop Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo and the lighthouse on its walls. Give either an hour or so of your time. The free Miradouro do Suberco looks straight down on the beach and white houses from the Sítio promontory, and it never closes.
Below, in the lower town near the seafront, the Museu Dr. Joaquim Manso offers context on the fishing community through costumes, old boats and everyday objects. A visit takes about an hour. The Sítio district gathers a wide lookout terrace, a sanctuary church and a small legend chapel minutes apart; set aside two to three hours to see all three rather than the view alone.
Booking is not required for the fort, the lighthouse or the Suberco viewpoint. Entry to the lighthouse costs €1, with under-10s free. Check the museum's opening days and admission on the official pages before travelling.

What you can see in Nazaré without paying
The Miradouro do Suberco is free and open at all times, a railed balcony on the Sítio clifftop above the beach and the Atlantic. Allow 15-20 minutes; late in the day brings wind and coach crowds. The lighthouse charges €1, with under-10s free, so the Suberco viewpoint is the no-cost stop.
For a fuller free half-day, pair the viewpoint with the outdoor terraces around the Sítio district. The fort and lighthouse sit on the same headland, and the lighthouse climb is most of the effort, though the funicular shortens it.
